A story

Carrie flew down the stairs and into the living room. "Hey mom!" She called. No answer. "Mom!" she said. Still, no answer. Then, "Roar!" "Ah!" Her mother jumped out from behind the corner. "What are you doing?!" Carrie asked snobbishly. "Playing our old game! Remember when you were little?" "Mom, that was let's see, ten years ago! Come on! I'm almost FOURTEEN!!" Carrie explained. "Oh honey," her mother said wrapping her arms around Carrie, "You're just growing up so fast!" Just then Tyler, Carrie's ten year old brother, came down the stairs rubbing his eyes tiredly. "Ty! You're still in your PJ's? Get dressed! My first day of high school is today! I can't be late!" Carrie said, flipping her long, curly, dirty blond hair over her shoulder. Her freckles stuck out like a sore thumb. "Yeah whatever," Tyler said drowsily. "C'mon bud, let's get ready for the first day of fifth grade! Mr. Gilmore is very nice, I know you'll like him! Carrie did, didn't you Car?" Their mom, Mrs. Middleton said. "Yeah, I guess he was okay," Carrie said shrugging. She was just trying to act more like a teenager, truth was, she had loved her fifth grade teacher the best out of them all. But Tyler was ready, and the first day of high school, was about to begin.
**********
When they arrived at the Middleton Official High School, a school Carrie's great-great-great grandfather had founded, Carrie's heart was pounding so hard, she thought it would jump out. As she walked through the doors, she felt grown up, but when she stepped inside, she felt like a child. Everyone was laughing, chatting with friends, dressed all glamorously, and she almost didn't recognize Lacey sorrounded by a bunch of other girls. She walked over to them. "Hey Lace! Are you so phyced or what?!" Carrie asked. The group looked at her like she was crazy. "Who are you? And what are you wearing?" One girl asked with a giggle. Carrie gasped. That wasn't Lacey! What a horrible way to start off the year! "Sorry, um...I thought you were someone else," Carrie said. The girl she thought was Lacey stood up. "Hey, wanna hang sometime, with me and my girls? We need a new girl since Farley left last year, think about it, it's a really great offer, to let you know." Carrie thought it over and said, "Yeah, I'd love too!"
